Canal Rewatering has Begun!!!

The long-awaited rewatering of the canal has begun, according to Kelsey Hansen, Assistant Park Manager.

“The two major projects that needed to be completed to allow a fully watered canal are complete. The locations were Lumberville Aqueduct and the High Falls Sub Canal Culvert. Also, PennDOT has been working on a wall project in Williams Township and they just got done with pulling out of the canal prism (they needed to be in there to do work). We have recently opened the feed gates in Easton to allow water to flow south. It will be a slow process, as we have to wait for the clay liner to soak up the water in each section before sending the water further south.

Thank you,
Kelsey
