Bucks County Declares ‘Code Blue’ through Jan. 31

A “Code Blue” declaration will be in effect for Bucks County through the end of January in response to an extended stretch of extreme cold and severe winter weather.

Shelters in Upper, Central and Lower Bucks will open Friday evening and will be in operation nightly through the evening of Jan. 31.

Please note that the Central Bucks shelter location moves to Doylestown Presbyterian Church for the evening of Jan. 31.

Guests are required to leave the shelters by 6:45 a.m. each day and may return in the evening. The Upper and Lower Bucks shelters will open at 8:30 p.m. The Central Bucks shelter opens at 7:30 p.m. 

The county issues a “Code Blue” declaration when temperatures are forecast to drop below 20 degrees for two or more consecutive days. A “Code Blue” may be called amid higher temperatures, as consideration is also given to wind chill, precipitation and other circumstances.

A Code Blue declaration will be in effect for Bucks County from Saturday evening, December 13th through Wednesday, December 17th in response to several forecasted days of extreme cold.
Shelters in Upper, Central and Lower Bucks will open Saturday evening and will remain in operation through
Wednesday morning.

The Upper and Lower Bucks shelters will open at 8:30 p.m. The Central Bucks shelter opens at 7:30 p.m.

UPPER BUCKS CODE BLUE SHELTER ALERT


Beginning November 15th, when the temperatures are 26 degrees and below, the Upper Bucks Code Blue shelter will open at the Quakertown Masonic Lodge, 501 W Broad St, Quakertown from 8:15 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. the following morning. A hot meal and breakfast is also available.

Call (267) 450-5191 after 1:00 p.m. to find out if the shelter is open or to request ride.

Car rides are available from the Turkey Hill in Ottsville/Harrow at 7:45 p.m.
