BNT Groundwater Management Committee – How to Interpret a Water Analysis Report

Thge Bridgeton – Tinicum-Nockamixon Groundwater Management Committee would like to share an article from the Penn State Extension Office:

How To Interpret a Water Analysis Report

This article outlines some of the major parameters you may see on the analysis and assists you in understanding the numbers on a water test report.

Whether your water causes illness, stains on plumbing, scaly deposits, or a bad taste, a water analysis identifies the problem and enables you to make knowledgeable decisions about water treatment.

BNT Groundwater Committee Seeks Volunteers to build well-monitoring “doghouses”

HELP WANTED:  Dog House Builders

No, I’m not referring to homes for man’s best friend !

I represent ECO Bucks that has been supporting the member volunteers of the Bridgeton-Nockamixon-Tinicum Groundwater Committee. We affectionately refer to the protective covers on the top of wells containing groundwater loggers as “dog houses”.

The groundwater committee ( bntgroundwater.org )  has been collecting groundwater data in select wells throughout the three townships for 20 years. The Committee’s research has led to the development of a local drought monitor and provided the scientific basis for the new groundwater ordinance in Nockamixon Township. Some of our “dog houses” are aging, not feasible for repair, and need to be replaced.

Our dog houses have been made with exterior plywood and measure about 15″ X 10″ X 20″.  I’ve attached a photo.

Our Community Water Monitoring Network

The Bridgeton- Nockamixon- Tinicum Groundwater Management Committee will be presenting Our Community Water Monitoring Network: Partners and Applications, a Palisades School District Community School course, at Palisades High School’s Audion on Mondays 10/21 and 11/25 7:30 – 9:00 PM. The course is free to the public.

Water supply in our Townships is drawn from home wells and disposed via septic tanks.  This seminar will present local volunteer and government efforts to manage our water resources to avoid overuse, mitigate drought effects, avoid well contamination, and promote citizen stewardship.  Hydrology basics and the data collection programs of the Bridgeton, Nockamixon, Tinicum Groundwater Management Committee (BNTGMC) will be presented. Bring your electronic device so we can access the various websites that archive data and provide general information. Presenters include Dr. Art Baehr, retired USGS hydrologist, Dr. Stephen Donovan, Chair of Nockamixon EAC, and Todd Stone, President of the Gallows Run Watershed Association and Chair of the BNTGMC.
