From the UBREMS Board of Directors:

“Since 1958, Upper Bucks Regional EMS (UBREMS), a registered 501(c)(3) has provided advanced life support services to nine municipalities in Northern Bucks County and surrounding
communities. This is a corps of paid paramedics and EMT’s, guided by a volunteer Board of Directors…

In recent years, however, rising costs and stagnant revenue have strained our operations. Stressed by a high rate of unpaid services, policies that offer direct insurance payments to individuals, and
payments that average only 30% of the per-call expense rate. Despite efforts to increase funding— advocating for higher municipal contributions from general funds, these financial challenges persist, impacting both our organization and community safety.
To address these realities, we will maintain 24/7 service at the Springfield Station 141 and temporarily transition our Nockamixon Station 142 to 12-hour coverage (6am – 6pm) for the immediate future.
We are examining ways to expand this and have the goal of restoring service 24 hours and day, 7 days a week 365 days a year, from both stations…”

The Bridgeton Supervisors attended a regional municipal meeting held on Tuesday, January 14th at the Tinicum Municipal Building, along with the Tinicum Supervisors, Bedminster Supervisors and the UBREMS Board to begin to address the issue.

More meetings are in the works to resolve the short-term coverage issue and to fashion a long-term solution.
